The Rising Sun is a free house, dating from the 19th century, located in the Wiltshire village of Christian Malford, just outside Chippenham and 4 miles from Junction 17 of the M4.
In March 2017, The Rising Sun was taken over by a group of local villagers with the aim of keeping their much loved village pub ‘open’ for the community. We pride ourselves on our real ales, an interesting wine list plus a range of traditional ciders and continental lagers.
The menus ensure you’ll find something to suit all tastes and ages. We are a truly ‘traditional old-fashioned family-friendly country village pub, where you are always guaranteed a warm welcome.
There are baby changing facilities (located in the disabled toilet), a beer garden with a children’s play area and a boules pitch, plus free wifi.
The local countryside is full of public footpaths, so why not use The Rising Sun as a start and finish for some great local walks? Stop for a refreshing drink or a meal afterwards. Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the bar and beer garden.
Exciting new menus are available from Wednesday 14th March, and we’re now open for food & drinks on a Friday lunch-time.
Our menu offers a wide and varied selection of delicious, home-cooked meals, all prepared in our kitchen by our Chef, James Halliday. Read more …

With its rising popularity, we recommend pre-booking to guarantee your table and the time that you would like to eat. However, we will always try to accommodate those who suddenly decide that they want to join us and look forward to welcoming you to The Rising Sun. Pre-booking is however essential for our “special” events.
Please call 01249 721 571 to book your table or leave a message and we will get back to you.
